Black Women Deserve Happily Ever After, Too... is inspired by the engagement of two friends, Ashley and Ashton. I was thrilled when Ashton texted our group chat an image of Ashley's reaction after the proposal and I knew immediately that I would paint it to honor that moment because of the pure joy and happiness Ashley exuded.
Cementing the image into art form allows me to offer this joy again not only to Ashley but to all Black Women to let them know they Too..., Deserve Happily Ever After. Unadulterated, unfiltered and unconditional love and happiness in this lifetime. May all black women feel seen, valued, protected, loved in all of your days.
